Death of the Winds vs. Serenity in Air followup

L5R CCG Rules board, 14 August 2013 to 15 August 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Death of the Winds doesn't specify the additional action as optional. So if I fetched Serenity in Air (for some reason) I would then have to pass on my (forced) additional action?

Yes.

See Additional Action. Note in particular that while this counts as passing for the purposes of The Killing Grounds, it does not count towards ending the Combat Segment: The additional action is taken at an additional opportunity to act in the current action round, before the next regular opportunity. It does not count against the normal sequence of actions in the current segment or phase; for example, an additional Battle action is taken without waiting for, or expending, the next normal chance to take a Battle action. This additional opportunity to act can be used to pass; the choice to pass is made at the point of taking the additional action. If you pass, this does not count towards ending the action round.
