False Rings & Starting on the Path

L5R CCG Rules board, 5 August 2013 to 9 August 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hello, I wasn't sure about the ruling on this so I wanted clarification

If I put a False ring into play using Starting on the Path, do I take the honor loss? I wasn't sure since it looked like the honor loss was tied to the entry conditions. I figured it was most likely required that you take the honor loss but I just wanted to be sure.

Thank you for you time!

False Ring of Fire~ Open: If your maximum hand size is 10 or more, put this Ring into play and lose 2 Honor. Starting on the Path ~Until your second turn from now begins, you have the ability, "Limited: Target a Ring in your hand: Put it into play."

You don't lose the Honor because those are an effect of the entering-play trait / ability on the False Ring, which is not what you're using to put the Ring into play. With Starting the Path you effectively avoid this little dishonor of toying with false paths...
