Bayushi Kazutoshi + Dark Naga

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 May 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Bayushi Kazutoshi After Kazutoshi enters play or overlays: Discard all your other Sensei Personalities. Before the first time each turn another player's card's effect destroys one of your Loyal Personalities: Negate the destruction. Move him home. Bow him. Dishonor him

Dark Naga After The Dark Naga enters play: Lose 3 Honor. Reaction: After another player targets The Dark Naga with an action: You may bow one of your Forests. If you did, negate The Dark Naga's destruction from the action's effects. Battle: Target an enemy Personality: If he is Nonhuman, take control of him (he joins your army). If he is human, bow his unit. Destroy him before this turn ends.

If my opponent uses Dark Naga on a human loyal personality the destroy is delayed until end of turn. If my next action is Ring of fire to destroy the same unit and no other destroy effects target my personality does my person still resurrect even though he was also killed via my own action?

Does the dark naga's ability count as the first death even though its delayed anyway as in if he kills a second personality the next will still die?

If the Personality is already in the discard pile, the destruction fails. This takes precedence over negation, so Kazutoshi XP2 won't be triggered by that.

Kazutoshi XP2 is concerned by the destruction effect happening; whichever is the first destruction effect on your Loyal Personality from your opponent's card's effects, it will trigger Kazutoshi. Delayed effects aren't considered until they try to apply.

The delayed effect from Dark Naga's ability won't be counted until the end of the turn. If any other destruction effect (fulfilling the conditions) happens earlier than this, it will trigger Kazutoshi's resurrection instead. Otherwise, he will be triggered by the delayed destruction effect.
