Are keywords that are gender-based considered to be the same for game purposes regardless of whether they present as male or female? In other words, are Actor/Actress or Emperor/Empress considered to be the same? Or does Rokugan not recognize gender equality
Gender-based keywords
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
Gender-based keywords differentiate genders. Actor =/= actress ; Emperor=/= Empress
Yes, this means that an Emperor Personality can't pay the cost for The Empress' Address.
I'd say there's a quite high degree of gender-equality in Rokugan, considering the high number of women in positions of power. Card mechanics are an entirely separated matter, even if we try our best to having them match the story.
