I have a Shinjo Tselu with a Blade of Champions attached. If my opponent targets him with an action and I change the target using the Blade, will he still discard a card?

I have a Shinjo Tselu with a Blade of Champions attached. If my opponent targets him with an action and I change the target using the Blade, will he still discard a card?
Blade of Champions reacts when an action would target, and makes the action target another card instead. Since another card is targeted instead of Tselu, Tselu is not targeted, and therefore his trait does not activate.
