Question concerning Shiba Ryuba.

L5R CCG Rules board, 11 March 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I understand that during a normal battle in Attack Phase a personality still at home can perform a Battle Action that would transfer it to the current Battlefield, satisfying the Presence and Relevance rules eventually (but not initially).

Can (in the same mindset) a bowed Shiba Ryuba use her own Battle ability, straightening herself and then moving home? Can, in general, bowed personalities use own Abilities/Strategies (that do not require bowing) to straighten themselves?

(Apologies for asking a repeated question, but I couldn't search it simply enough to find any relevant results)

Shiba Ryuba Battle: Target your Personality: Move him home. If he moved, straighten him.

Thanks in advance.

In cards printed since Khan's Defiance (that means, the entire Emperor cardpool ) the card has to use an "even if bowed" clause to straighten itself. Ryuba was designed to straighten other Personalities, not herself (though she can still target herself to move home if you want to).

See for example Akodo Tsudoken XP or Asako Chukage for Personalities that are meant to straighten themselves but still need to have the "even if bowed" exception clause.
