Ichigiku & Eiya vs. Clan virtues

L5R CCG Rules board, 7 March 2013 to 8 March 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Are the traits on Kakita Ichigiku & Daigotsu Eiya subject to delay via the focus effects listed on The Duty of the Crab/The Courage of the Mantis/The Honor of the Lion?

The Duty of the Crab (relevant text): As a Focus Effect: You may choose (now) to delay the effects of losing this duel until after the next Dynasty Phase begins.

Kakita Ichigiku (relevant text): After Ichigiku challenges a dishonorable Personality during a Combat Segment: The challenge will not be refused; destroy that duel's loser in addition to other consequences of losing.

I've searched the forum for answers to this, and while Gilador's referral here seems to lump all delays/negations together, it has been pointed out to me that Hundred-Fold Cut/Spirit of the Berserker/Halls of the Forgotten negate or delay the effects "of the action", while the various clan virtues delay the effects of "losing the duel". Palmer's explanation here says the traits do not add to the consequences of the action, but are they still considered an effect of "losing the duel"? Or are Eiya & Ichigiku's traits applied after focus effects and therefore not subject to the virtues' delays?

Yes, they are still effects of losing the duel, just not from the action that created the duel. The Clan Virtues will delay them.
