Grappling the snake vs anti bowing effects

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 February 2013 to 28 February 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I have a monk targetted with Grappling the snake. My opponent decides to send me home with journey end keep.

1) Instead of negating, should i choose the bow the performers unit, can he use Champion of thunder to negate the bowing of the follower or even caught in the act to stop the personality bowing effect from grappling the snake?

2) Also, in another example, my opponent has won a duel and has the twin fork effect active. Can it negate grappling the snake's bowing effect?

Thanks.

Grappling the snake Battle: Choose your performing unbowed Monk: After the next time (this turn) an action targets him, you may choose either to negate its effects on your Monk, or to bow the unit of one Personality that performed it after the action resolves. You may take an additional Battle action.

Champion of thunder Reaction: After another player's action targets a card in this unit: Negate the action's effects on this card.

Caught in the act Reaction: After another player's action targets one or more of your Personalities: Negate their bowing from the action's effects.

Twin Fork City After an action resolves that created a duel your Personality won during a Combat Segment, once per Personality per battle: Negate his next bowing, movement, or destruction from other players' cards' effects.

Journey End's Keep Battle: Choose your performing unbowed Personality and target a Personality with as many or fewer Followers attached: Move him home; this will not be negated or delayed.

Grappling the Snake doesn't target the unit it bows, so there isn't a legal trigger for reacting with Champion of Thunder or Caught in the Act.

2) Also, in another example, my opponent has won a duel and has the twin fork effect active. Can it negate grappling the snake's bowing effect?

Yes. Grappling the Snake is bowing from another player's card effect, so the negation would kick in. Note: I'm assuming that Twin Forks City's effect was already active when Grappling the Snake was triggered.
