i'm 99% sure it worked this way but need to check. i can use this ability even if i don't have any follower attached to send opposing personality without any follower attached as well.

No, it's not permanent - it will negate the next instance of straightening. The second instance would straighten as normal 🙂

Also this card got errata as it became too much problematic in watered down Ivory environment. Btw this one was story choice prize for a player from nearby player group (paweł 'jarjar' janoszek)
