A player, 5 December 2025 23:10

It wasnt very strong for dishonor. It tried. But I argue it was just a political standoff deck

A player, 5 December 2025 23:17

Yeah not enough printed honor loss on dudes IMO.

A player, 5 December 2025 23:18

Well, on clowns.

A player, 9 December 2025 16:29

how does work his action?

A player, 9 December 2025 16:29

it is a unit kill regardless?

A player, 9 December 2025 16:29

why tyhere is a personality then not a unit wording?

A player, 9 December 2025 16:30

ot he kills personalities with weapon and spells but not with followers?

A player, 9 December 2025 16:30

or what?

A player, 9 December 2025 16:30

Kills thru attachments

A player, 9 December 2025 16:30

okay

A player, 9 December 2025 16:30

Effects that save the personality save the unit

A player, 9 December 2025 16:31

(Giant eff you to tower decks haha)

A player, 9 December 2025 16:31

oh and if he would be destroying unit then card effects that prevent death of personality still wopuld strip that personality of attachements, yes?

A player, 9 December 2025 16:31

Yes

A player, 9 December 2025 16:31

That's right

A player, 9 December 2025 16:32

btw hes an old pal.. i bet he was on healthy diet possibly eating crabs to retain that posture.

A player, 12 December 2025 16:21

by which I mean, I intentionally lose a duel that bows, and use Dark Ring of Fire to kill my own character so that the Focus Effect of Good Day To Die destroys the other personality

A player, 12 December 2025 16:21

Are you asking if you can challenge your own personalities with each other?

A player, 12 December 2025 16:21

Don't need the Dark Ring for that

A player, 12 December 2025 16:23

like, if my 3/3 Kokujin Sato challenges my opponent's Shikei with +3 Chi worth of attachments and 12 force, and I focus A Good Day To Die, if the duel doesn't result in the death of Sato, so A Good Day To Die won't kill Shikei

A player, 12 December 2025 16:27

The duel isnt destroying them, Dark Ring is

A player, 12 December 2025 16:28

yeah, I thought so...

A player, 12 December 2025 16:28

my first thought was this setup, didn't think about how it wouldn't work till after I started talking about it.

A player, 13 December 2025 17:37

[ShE] Catastrophic Confrontation vs Aid Has Arrived: The explosion seems to hit created personalities hard because they have zero gold cost is that correct? Just checking if the personalities created by Aid have zero gold cost? Would the same reasoning apply to Ancestors and Pirates created by Kagako and Ichido Sensei? So if I use Confrontation to banish even a very small person in my army, it could potentially wipe all the created enemies?

A player, 13 December 2025 17:39

It would appear so

A player, 13 December 2025 17:39

Similar to Standing Fast from editions past

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 13 December 2025 17:46 · in reply

Any stat on a created card defaults as "0" if not explicitly stated, including GC. Though note, CC takes into account the total unit cost of all targets, so expensive attachments could afford such Personalities some protection.

A player, 13 December 2025 17:47 · in reply

Thank you, and understood 🙂

A player, 13 December 2025 18:02 · in reply

I see some created cards do have a gold cost such as the yojimbos created by Tamori Tsushima. However Takumi's created yojimbos do not have a gold cost. But they do have "Yu: A target player loses 2 honor". If I banish them with CC then the Yu Trait does not trigger correct?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 13 December 2025 18:05 · in reply

Banishing is not the same as destruction. Only destruction triggers "Yu".

A player, 14 December 2025 22:33

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 15 December 2025 04:39

The created character

A player, 18 December 2025 18:08

A player, 18 December 2025 19:00

If I copy an ability onto a target and it happens to read "tactical ability" but the target doesn't have tactician, can they use or not the copied ability?

Answers on: Yasuki's Smile
A player, 18 December 2025 19:04

Also, can Yasuki's smile interrupt Overwhelmed?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 18 December 2025 19:15 · in reply

Any Tactical ability not printed on a Tactician itself must implicitly target your unbowed Tactician to use it, like Banish All Doubt for example. So, very technically, you could use such a copied ability, but you'd have to additionally target one of your own actual Tacticians to use it, who would then thereby use up his one Tactical for the turn.

A player, 18 December 2025 19:17

can Yasuki's smile interrupt Overwhelmed?

Answers on: Yasuki's Smile
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 18 December 2025 19:18 · in reply

Yes, I saw the other question. I'm looking into it. Overwhelmed is an odd duck, as you know.

A player, 18 December 2025 19:26

Yep.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 18 December 2025 19:29 · in reply

Ok, so, this is a fun one. Yes, it can. However, "If the action would destroy this Personality" is a requirement of announcing the Interrupt, so he must be your highest Force guy at the time you announce it, so that choosing to not move guys home will definitely kill him. Also, you are then locked into not choosing to move guys home due to the Rules regarding Choice Paradoxes. And finally, should circumstances beyond your control change after you take the Smile Interrupt, and for whatever reason, a different one of your guys is who will be destroyed by Overwhelmed, the Smile substitution will not happen and save the other guy. I hope you followed all that?

A player, 18 December 2025 19:37

Just banish overwhelmed already... xD

A player, 18 December 2025 19:39

There needs to be sufficient solutions for tower decks

A player, 18 December 2025 19:48 · in reply

A player, 19 December 2025 09:33 · in reply

Steel on Steel is a good solution to towers.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 19 December 2025 10:24 · in reply

You know you're in the Onyx Lives Discord, not Sun and Moon? 😛

A player, 19 December 2025 10:45

well maybe they should reprint steel on steel… just sayin’

(I’m aware that I advocated for less lethal duels with more interesting focus effects. I’m aware that this might be a contradiction. I’m also aware that I had fun playing that card.)

Answers on: Steel on Steel
Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 19 December 2025 10:46

Clearly we need to reprint Iaijutsu Challenge and iaijutsu Duel

A player, 19 December 2025 10:53

I mean, there’s just no other way.

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 19 December 2025 11:09

Iaijutasu Art, The Fortunes Smile, Hamstrung. There we go. Whole dueling suite

A player, 19 December 2025 12:39

Three Dynasties will now be exclusively about duels. All Personalities will either be duelists or have traits and abilities that support dueling. All duels will be kill duels, with secondary effects being what differentiates between them.

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 19 December 2025 12:40

Tani Hitokage reprint, let’s goooooo

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 19 December 2025 12:44

In fact, all words on every card will be errata'ed to be the words duel, Duelist, dueled, or dueling

A player, 19 December 2025 12:56

Then we will need duelists-killer cards with effects such as: "target a duelist, increase their personal honor by 10, dishonor them, and destroy them" I'd pay for those cards xD

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 19 December 2025 12:58 · in reply

You only lose printed PH when dying dishonorably, so the 10 increase does nothing. 😉 And apart from my own post just now, isn't this getting rather off-topic?

A player, 19 December 2025 12:59 · in reply

"Fall from Grace"

A player, 19 December 2025 12:59

ANARCHY!

A player, 30 December 2025 03:41

With Suikihime Wind and the Raid situation... suikihime says "the next time an attack is declared you have to send someone to the selected province" how does that interact with a raid since it's not attacking a province?

A player, 30 December 2025 03:42

Raid attack is still an attack

A player, 30 December 2025 03:42

It basically negates Suikihime's ability

A player, 30 December 2025 03:42

if someone was mantis and used it, would the opponent have to send someone to a province instead of the raid? or does it just not happen?

A player, 30 December 2025 03:42

That's probably a good question for the General channel, but in short, the Onyx and beyond cards are a digital-only, fan-made continuation and most play via an online client called Sun and Moon (which has its own separate Discord).

A player, 31 December 2025 15:54

A player, 31 December 2025 20:39 · in reply

Just a follow up: Do multiple copies of Jagardis stack? So if you had two in play, could you ignore banishing a dead personality twice per turn?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 31 December 2025 20:46 · in reply

Effectively, yes. Because the trigger is "you may", while multiple Jagadis all could trigger off the same Banish, you get to choose which copies (if any) do. So, you would naturally only choose to trigger one per Banish thus getting a free non Banish per turn for each copy.

A player, 31 December 2025 23:46

[ShE] Kimiono Sensei: Apologies if I missed any discussion about this card over the last few weeks, I cannot seem to find anything in search about it. My question is: How exactly does this work? If I have the sensei and I attack, there is a second maneuvers segment... but does the defender also get the benefit of this cavalry maneuvers segment? So if I assign no infantry and the defender assigns one unit during the first 'infantry' maneuvers segment, can I the attacker then assign any number of my cav units to attack the province with the defending unit in the cav maneuvers segment? Does the defender then get to assign any number of their cav units to the same province? Or does the defender not get the opportunity to make use of the cav maneuvers segment? And does the defender assign their cav units after the attacker does so? In which case how does the limitation on 'if the defender assigned no personalities" work? If there were no defending infantry units then would the attacker get to assign to empty provinces but the defender cannot?

Answers on: Kimiono Sensei
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 31 December 2025 23:55 · in reply

1. Yes, 2. Yes, 3. Yes, 4. Both players assign during both Maneuvers; no Maneuvers belongs exclusively to one player, 5. Yes, just like a regular Maneuvers, Attacker then Defender assign, there are just added restrictions on which units may be assigned where, 6. If the Defender assigned no one in first Maneuvers, the Attacker could assign Cav units anywhere in the second, 7. If the Defender didn't assign anyone during the first Maneuvers, they would also have no restrictions about assigning to empty battlefields in the second Maneuvers, just like the Attacker as described in answer #6.

Edit: Sorry, just realized my numbering system ignores the first question sentence, "How does this work?" and starts with the next.

A player, 31 December 2025 23:57 · in reply

Wait, if I am the defender I cannot use the Onyx cavalry or I can use both types?

A player, 31 December 2025 23:57 · in reply

if you played the game prior to ivory, it's just old Cavalry Segment (except that you have to assign into a contested battlefield if possible)

A player, 31 December 2025 23:59

isn't it?
